A few weeks ago my family and I had the pleasure of attending the Pocono Mountains Winter FAM Tour held at Split Rock Resort and Jack Frost Big Boulder Mountain. Partnering up with the Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau, Split Rock hosted a series of bloggers and their families for a weekend full of family fun! There was so much entertainment under one roof, truly something for everyone!
Although Split Rock is known to be a vacation destination for tourists, I was pleased to find out that not only are most of the accommodations available for full use, but that they encourage residents of the area to come down and take advantage of their amenities! When my family first relocated here in 2014, I was getting mixed answers from the locals about this place. Some said you were able to use things like the pool and basketball courts, others said you were only allowed to use the waterpark or movie theater. Once it took over new management this past summer, I was misinformed that the only available amenities to anyone not staying at the resort was the indoor waterpark, H20ooohh!! Upon speaking to management during my stay, I made sure to set the record straight!
Split Rock is happy to welcome anyone who would like to use their amenities such as the Bowling Alley & Arcade, Movie Theater, Mini Golf Course, Restaurants and Bars and of course the indoor water park, regardless if you are an overnight guest or not. These amenities are open to the public year-round. Under new management, they are slowly updating different areas of the resort and they have made many improvements already. The options they offer make for a great family night out (or date night!), especially to those local to Lake Harmony and closely surrounding areas since they offer so much under one roof! The closest movie theater or bowling alley to that area are 35+ minutes away! At Split Rock you can really have a fun, affordable day or night out, right in your own backyard. What more could you ask for?
In the First Run Movie Theater you can sit back, relax and enjoy a good quality family movie at lower prices than most other theaters. They offer a quality sound system and ample seating with a full snack bar for popcorn, drinks and your favorite movie size candies! They always play popular movies currently in theaters and all movies are family-friendly. (Sorry--you will not see Deadpool in this theater!) Currently playing "Kung Fu Panda 3" starring Jack Black. Cosmic Bowling offers an 8-lane light up bowling center with glowing pins that add to the fun! They are open to the public 7 days a week for $7.00 per person, per game. The music is always playing and the staff is all smiles. This is a great spot to hold a birthday party! While you are waiting for your lane to open in the bowling alley, check out the Redemption Arcade! With fun arcade games from the old games parents grew up playing to the latest and greatest digital games for the kids to enjoy! Placed alongside the bowling alley, kids can play games while adults bowl (or vice versa!) When you are through, the kids LOVE to redeem their tickets for great prizes at the prize counter! Open the same hours as Cosmic Bowl.
Miniature Golf Course - 18-holes of outdoor mini golf (seasonal) is available for all to enjoy! Take in the beautiful scenery we all love and enjoy and share a family outing outside in the fresh air! While you are in the resort, they always have a TON of activities to entertain and exhaust you and your family! Fun things like karaoke, turtle races, trivia, board games, bocce ball and more! You can find their weekly schedule posted on their website HERE or pick up a schedule of events at the front desk in the Galleria.
And of course, saving the best for last...H20ooohh!! We know the Poconos is known for their indoor waterparks, but with the hype of Kalahari and Camelback opening this past year, many forget about one of the first to hit the Poconos right inside Split Rock! Although it is not as large as some of the other area waterparks, it is not to be forgotten! 53,326 square feet of water attractions including multiple slides, a wave pool, a surfing simulator The Komodo Dragon, the kids play with water guns, slides and more in the Jungle Falls and Leapin' Lizards play area! Tons of lounge chairs and seating placed all over the park so that parents can relax while still keeping their children in eye view. Tube rides featuring single, double and family options. The Tiki Bar satisfies your snacking needs and beverages of all kinds for both kids and adults. The Lava Springs hot tubs offer a place to unwind and relax for parents. My kids (ages 8 and 6) thought this place was GREAT. We have been to all the other water parks in the area and they had just as much fun here as they did at the larger ones! Do not count them out!

Typical full day passes are $31 or $36 depending on height, but they have a full schedule of fees on their website HERE that lists their discounts for Twilight Pass, Multi-Day pass, Observer Pass and more. Split Rock also has many dining options available for both adults and families.
H2O Island Oasis is the place to go for delicious frozen drinks and beverages inside the water park. Get a snack for the kids and a Pina Colada for mom.
Live entertainment is available at both the Thirsty Moose Saloon and the Rock Lounge/Bar. Both places also second as a great spot to watch the game!
Lake View Tavern is the newest restaurant on the scene with a beautiful scenic view of Lake Harmony. Click HERE to see their hours of operation.
And the Split Rock Grill is the best place on the grounds to get a little bit of everything. Their buffet breakfasts have TONS of options with something for everyone! The omelet and waffle station, made to order, was my favorite part!
